Court Rules

Proper Attire/Dress Code for Court
1. No Shorts of any type.
2. No Hats are to be worn in the Courtroom
3. No Muscle Shirts or Tank Tops.
4. Any item of clothing that displays offensive, vulgar, racist, sexist, gang related, obscene language and/or graphics are prohibited.
5. Provocative/revealing clothing that may disrupt/distract court proceedings is prohibited.
6. Courtroom seating will be for Defendants only due to limited space.  A parent and or guardian must be with Defendants who are 16 years of age or younger.  No guests will be allowed in the courtroom.

To reschedule a Court Date: The defendant must appear in person. Court dates can be reset due to family emergencies.
We have a reset form that must be signed by the Defendant and put in their packet.
Payments can be paid by credit card through www.paypattonvillage.com or 1-800-444-1187. A list of fines is provided on the web site.
Deferred Disposition and DDC must be approved before paying for them. You must sign all forms before the deferment or DDC starts. Those requesting DDC must have a valid Texas DL.  Out of state defendants will not be allowed to take DDC. 
Requests for Trial by Judge or Jury must be made in person on your scheduled Court Date. Those who reside in another state may request their trial by mail or through an attorney. Once the court receives the request, you will be notified of your court date by mail.
 
Defendants who retain an attorney:  Once the attorney has confirmed they are representing a defendant, the Court Personnel may NO LONGER communicate with the defendant.
 
Judge Tavel and Prosecutor Amanda Hill will NOT speak to anyone by telephone.  In order to address any issue, it must be done in person at the designated court date. NO EXCEPTIONS.
